MYLORD CARTHAGO X LADY D VAN'T ROOSAKKER
Mylord Carthago is a modern stallion with a lot of charisma. Sire Carthago has performed at a top level for years. But the dam line is also bred for performance. Both the mother and the grandmother have jumped internationally. In addition, there are several successful show jumpers from this strong dam line including: a. Morgat, Triomphe de Muze, Jolly Mome, Vodka Orangede Muze and Mifrane Manciaise. Mylord Carthago was a four-, five- and six-year-old finalist in Fontainebleau and qualified as a seven-year-old for the world championships for young show jumpers in Lanaken. In 2008 he started a great international jumping career: he won the Grand Prix of La Courneuve, Saint-Lo and Chantilly and many other major international competitions.
Where to start when describing Lady D van’t Roosakker. Her own performances? Her offspring? Her legendary dam? Or her entire dam line?
Let’s start at the beginning, her dam line. Her 3rd dam is the legendary Usha van’t Roosakker, a mare that has made a great impression as a sporthorse but has most of all an unparalleled legacy as a broodmare. Usha herself is the dam of 4 horses that competed a 1.60m level.
Usha’s daughter Attoucha, the 2nd dam of Lady D, seems to be the most prolific daughter of Usha. Though she didn’t compete herself, this mare by Darco had the strongest print of Usha, as she was lighter and smaller in her body than most of Usha’s offspring and had plenty of blood, just like Usha. And just like Usha, she produced sport.
Falco van’t Roosakker competed with Eugenio Grimaldi and the mare Gatoucha with Michael Korompis who gave 4 stars already, being Alana Hero Z, Tinkoucha Hero Z, Kastello and Attoucha Z.
Another daughter of Attoucha is the dam of Lady D, Electra van’t Roosakker. She was a unique mare under Jos Lansink and Jannika Sprunger. The beautiful chestnut mare was gifted with all the showjumping essentials and more. Her long tall body, endless power, intelligence and carefulness propelled her to World Cups. But again, her offspring took it to another level.
Electra’s first offspring, Horpleasure, competed at 1.60m level with Manon Hebette. Her daughter Imke was seen in the 1.45m, showing with Frank Schuttert, and is now a broodmare and the dam of Marit Skollerud’s 1.45m performer Nelson van’t Roosakker.
But Electra had a special match with the Grand Prix winning stallion Echo van’t Spieveld. The first result of this pairing was James Bond of Michael Hughes who was soon followed by Kaprice.
This gelding is a star striker under Kent Farrington winning 10 classes, including 5 Grand Prix and finishing 2nd in another 3.
Another result of Electra and Echo is the breeding stallion Kassander van’t Roosakker. This impressive stallion competed with Gregory Whatelet and now breeds at Studfarm Zangersheide.
Two more mares out of this combination have produced the licensed stallions Riesling van’t Roosakker and Panenka de Kalvarie.
The last daughter of Electra and Echo is Lady D. As a 4 year old she became the mother of Puerto Rico and Playboy van’t Roosakker who are very successful in the Belgian Young Horse Cycle. In the same year that Lady D became a dam through embryo transfer, she started competing herself under Dieter Laheyne and she moved up into 1.40m classes with Caroline Devos-Poels who praises Lady D for her exceptional carefulness and willpower. The very same qualities she shares with her full brothers Kaprice and Kassander.
It’s a long successtory that actually containes many more chapters and where still many new will be written.
